1891 census...Aged 3, he was at 1 Stow Road, Stow cum Quy with his father Joseph ISON [48] master butcher; mother Jane [47]; brothers Joseph [20] a shepherd, Oliver [15] a college servant and Charles [12] apprentice butcher; sister Emily [10]. All were born in Stow cum Quy. His father died in 1897 and brother Joseph in 1899. 1901 census...Aged 13 a domestic gardener he was at High Street, Quy with Isaac BROWN [78](living on parish) born Aldeburgh and wife Rebecca BROWN [73] born Quy. Walter and his sister Emily [20] a teacher in National School are recorded as son and daughter of Isaac?. Also there was Ruth Dean [21] a dress maker, born Quy, recorded as niece of Isaac. His widowed mother was living alone at 18 Emmanuel Street, Cambridge.Brother Charles appears to be a barman in West Ham, brother Oliver has not been found in this census. The true relationship of Isaac Brown and Walter Ison has not been found. 1911 census...Aged 23, a bricklayer, he was at "Chasna" Kings Avenue, New Malden with his brother Charles ( a bricklayer) and Charles' wife, Quy born, Emma and their two daughters, Marjorie [6] and Lorna [5] both born in Tooting. The pension card has his mother at 25 Main Road, Quy. |
